Make no mistake that yes, Amazon announced today its HQ2 headquarters would open in New York City (Queens) and Arlington, Virginia. But surprise of all surprises: Nashville, TN also gets a piece of this huge pie. In 2019, Amazon's Center of Excellence will open just north of the Gulch, a very hip retail-restaurant-business and residential location that borders Nashville's downtown area, west of the Cumberland River.

“We are excited to build new headquarters in New York City and Northern Virginia,” said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon. “These two locations will allow us to attract world-class talent that will help us to continue inventing for customers for years to come. The team did a great job selecting these sites, and we look forward to becoming an even bigger part of these communities.”
Can you imagine the cities themselves? As for
Arlington-- (just over the river from D.C. and the Hill...
Hello, Donald Trump! Looks like there's a new sheriff in town.

One who owns the
Washington Post, aside from the most profitable corporation in the WORLD.) --that's 25,000 full-time jobs and a 2.5 BILLION Amazon investment.
Long Island, Queens (again just over the river
and through the woods from a global financial district aka Manhattan) this means a huge boost to their online algorithms (translation city's income). Not only are we going to be jabbering on and on over this revelation but there is talk of 25,0000 HIGH PAYING JOBS as in $150K per year. Not too shabby. Amazon is said to be investing 2.5 billion and let's not forget the ancillary staff positions that come with the mid level management and software designers more than likely to hired for both HQ2 sites.
But I'm super excited about Amazon's Center of Excellence opening in Nashvegas. Just a stone's throw away from where I live a town over in Williamson County. My guess is that the recent slump that Nashville has seen in its economy will be reinvigorated by this timely news.
So what is the Center of Excellence? It's the Eastern U.S. regional hub for the tech and management functions of its Retail Operations division (responsible for distribution, shipping, customer service) with an estimated 5,000 jobs.
Is all of this good news? Well, each city promised certain concessions so hopefully it's a win-win for both Amazon and the residents of Long Island, Arlington, and Nashville. 2019 is just around the corner and it'll be here soon enough.
In the meantime, take a look at what Amazon is featuring today for their promotions. Speaking of the future,
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are closer than you think!
